The club was the most successful Belgian club before the Second World War and managed to win the national title eleven times and must therefore only let Anderlecht and Club Brugge go ahead. Since 2021, the club plays after an absence of 48 years in the highest division of Belgium.
There, the club became, as the first promoted club ever, autumn champion and in April 2022 winner of the regular competition. In the play-offs for the championship of Belgium, the team finally finished second, after losing to Club Brugge, and thus qualified for the preliminary round of the UEFA Champions League.
Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, because that’s what we’re talking about here, is back at the top of Belgian football and has now mapped out a similar path for the youth department. This mission also seems to succeed and the club from Brussels would like to prove this with their U18 team at the KST 2023.
With Royale Union Saint-Gilloise or Union Sint-Gillis (short RUSG), the first debutant for the KST 2023 is fixed.
