De Graafschap was founded in 1954 and immediately started in professional football, which was also founded at that time. The club was promoted to the Eredivisie no fewer than nine times, including three times (1991, 2007 and 2010) as champions. From 2019, the club will play at the second highest level.
The highest youth team of De Graafschap started this year with Jefta Bresser as head coach, who was also Head of Academy. In October it was announced that Bresser was given the opportunity to work as Head of Academy at Bayer Leverkusen, after which Brian Hogeweide, at that time trainer of the U14 team, became the new head coach.
In the 2024 spring competition, the team will play in Division 3 with Othniel Raterink, who is regularly selected for a national team, as one of the most striking players.
De Graafschap is a record participant in the PLUS Stam KST. The Superboeren are participating for the 23rd time this year, finished fourth last year and were tournament winners in 2000.
